How did I get Part Time Job ?

Part Time Job comes to you with a lot of luck.
There is plenty of jobs here, But to be able to get to the job is difficult mainly because of lack of knowledge. Many a people do not get a job easily as they are not good at networking or making new contacts.
It is important to be able to network to get part time jobs. Australia is a land with a population equal to that of Mumbai and the size is 7 times more than India. So there are less people more jobs. But no one is able to get to the job.
I started off by following the footsteps of my seniors. Wrote up a good resume, printed it out and distributed it in all the possible shops in the city and other surrounding areas. I started filling up online forms for the jobs.

The best places to target is supermarkets - Coles, Woolworths, Big W, seven eleven and many more. Then resturants - Mcdonalds, subway, hungry jacks, Miss India, Nandos, and a zillion more. There are upteen number of resturants. Then stadiums which require a hundred people to serve at about 20 -25 food and bar outlets. Then there are cleaning jobs, marketing jobs, taxi driving.

Since i was choosy about working in food outlets or resturants only and not any bar i applied to only the ones that i was looking for. I was lucky to get a job in the stadium food outlets in a span of 3 months and to get a job in Mcdonalds after my first semester.

Why is it sometimes hard not to get into a job ?

Either we cannot speak good english or we are not able to satisfy their requirement. Places like mcdonalds once easily gets into a job but to be able to start a shift or to be able to start working takes time as they would wait till a vacancy is available. They would recruit you, but would take time to give you shifts. Hence by the time you settle down with jobs it would be about 6 months.

Well some do get lucky if they have good senior friends who could help them get a job, they would get it as soon as they land, some dont get lucky.

IT IS ALL A MATTER OF LUCK.

Remember it is not your land. It will take time to settle. Never get disappointed if you dont get a part time job. You would eventually get one. You need to be extremely patient !!

TRUST ME VERY PATIENT.

Only if you are smart and are good with accounts and have handled money before and know how to manage finances will you be able to pay your semester fees yourself (atleast one NOT ALL)

I am saying this because many a people spend money over entertainment, junk food, over excessive shopping and eventually are not able to pay up the fees.

One can save. It is not difficult to save. You could share a house/room rather than living alone in a flat. You could walk to university and save on transport. You could cook at home rather than eating at an expensive hotel (Once in a while resturants is fine). You could watch 100s of movies with friends at home with 150GB of download quota rather than a movie theater. Its all aboout how you know to save money. You can pay fees only if you save. If one is a spendthrift once would not be able to save. It is very tempting to buy new stuffs. To try new things. Trust me everyone is eventually able to spend and have fun in 6 months. The first 6 months would be a little tight. Rest will run smoothly.

So guys have patience with part time jobs. You will eventually get one. Just be cool headed at interviews, and distribute resumes at every possible place. You will get rejected at 100 places and get through one place. It is true. But BE POSITIVE. And spend wisely and have loads of fun.
